"Eternal Seek" is a filmic meditation on the Chinese immigrant experience in contemporary Australia. It investigates the remnants left behind by the Chinese goldmines in the Victorian goldfields, to explore and convey how the legacy of historical racial oppression affects me—a privileged first-generation Chinese-Australian. By articulating tangible historical fragments through my self-reflectivity, and vice versa, the film enacts an interplay between the tangible and intangible, past and present, fact and fiction, personal and social. It aims to provoke thoughts on the immigrant experience through a multifaceted and multi-sensory lens that transcends spatiotemporal, linguistic, cultural, and social barriers. This work stands as a timely and essential contribution to the discourse on multicultural ecology in contemporary Australia
